How the Internet Works

• The computer is connected to the Internet Service Provider (ISP), usually by a cable modem. The cable modem sends and receives signals from it's location to the ISP. The Internet Service Provider is connected to the Internet.

• When the user is using an Internet browser software to navigate the Internet, the computer sends in commands to the ISP. The Internet site then receives the information that the computer sent it. Then the ISP returns the information sent by the Internet site to the computer.
